The 36th MFA Thesis Exhibition is on display today through the 29th at the Blaffer Art Museum. The fifteen Master of Fine Arts candidates represent five School of Art departments: Graphic Communications, Interdisciplinary Practice and Emerging Forms, Painting, Photography/Digital Media, and Sculpture.
Of these candidates, Arnea, Brenda, and Jeremy are my former classmates. I have had the pleasure to provide feedback for Arnea and Brenda in class, and I am thrilled to see there final works tonight!
Experimental Documentary: A light-hearted conversation of how singing inspired me to pursue a degree in the arts.
Assignment Intro: History is always happening. Time moves on without us and we seldom have time to reflect. Significant life events stick with us consciously or subconsciously and tend to shape our behavior (for better or worse). We hope that we learn from our pasts, but it doesn’t always work out that way.
Instructions: History, from the very distant past to the most recent second, is full of interesting events that have caused change. Your job with this assignment is to identify one of them and document it.
